Week 9 Part A: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts & Webinars

Personalizing your posts is the key to connecting successfully to your target audience. It's not just the product or service they are interested, but the person(s) behind the business. However, theres a fine line between a tasteful touch of personalization, and ruining the mood. I don't want to be reading someone's whole life story when I just wanted a description of the product; At the same time, being reminded that the otherwise faceless business are human beings too assuages any reservations I had about paying for their services.

Florists thrive on people's emotions; Love usually, and that's as easy as showing footage of a wedding with my specially made bouquets, prom night, anniversary and so on. I'm not the most open person myself, but maybe I can connect with my audience through the emotions that my customers felt the day they bought my flowers? Because it's a fake business it's hard to think about a story I could share about where I started and such. I guess this would be my start if I ever decided to make it a real business, haha.

I would say any business established 1 B.C., (before corona) practiced this method of connecting with their consumers. After all, we were experiencing a world wide crisis that was affecting people and business alike. It was important to know which companies cared about the sick and dying, about protecting their employees and customers and taking the necessary precautions to stop the spread. But of course, this method has been used years before, but it is the most prominent example in my head.

I'd say businesses that offer a service (in opposition to a product), would not really benefit from this blogging style. If you have a rotation of things to display and even change, that means new content for your blog, more chances to be seen, and more customers buying these products. I'm thinking like maid and handymen, I can't imagine them having a blog, much less it be very interesting.

  1. Solid point about oversharing personal information and it being a turn off. I agree connecting through universal emotions like love will surely attract customers.
