As someone whose never used social media for anything other than, well, social media, the world of online businesses and advertising was a world I didn't know much of, and tried to avoid. Now that i have spent a semester emulating such a business, my perspective of social media and the effort that goes behind successful businesses on it have certainly changed.
There is an art to attracting the right customers, and I feel i've definitely gotten sufficient practice in the social media sites i've posted on during this course. It is more than just posting a picture of your latest product- There are so many different factors that goes into the successfulness of ad, one of which being time and accumulation of enough followers to go viral in the first place. However, with the knowledge and experience I have gained from this class I believe that if I were to pursue an online business, I could acquire a solid follower base quicker now
I don't think my preference on social media for business has changed, rather, that I now know how to better utilize my favorites such as instagram and twitter. While Weed 'em and Reap was used as relatively easy business to envision, I could definitely see myself growing as a free-lance artist and streamer and those same sites.
The online world has swiftly accommodated to that of advertisers and I can only see it continue to do so, however it's important to get your foot in the door while you can lest you be outshined by your peers and competition. Our youngest of generations are used to receiving new information all the time, and fast, and businesses simply have to keep up in order to stay in the loop. It is for that reason that social media managers are now so important to businesses and brand image.
Whether it be through luck in the ever-changing algorithms, or consistent work at updating your accounts, your business will grow; it is all about connecting with potential business partners, clients, and reaching the right audience.
