Week 4B: Defining YOUR target market

Weed 'em and Reap is a pretend floral business that I will be using for the remainder of this class. I made a website for said business during a project last semester so it only made sense to build from there.

My target market is thankfully pretty diverse, anyone who needs flowers or a bouquets I would consider part of my customer base. Most florists sell for a variety of social events, from baby showers and weddings, to get well bouquets and funerals, so really the sky is the limit. It's all about getting the name out there.

I have always been fascinated by the meanings of flowers, and that is something I would like to incorporate into this business. Like most florist shops, it would be a local, family owned store, so customer loyalty is imperative in ensuring the survival of the business. Locally grown, high quality flowers put together thoughtfully would, hopefully, be appreciated, despite being a small business.

Downtown vista or oceanside would be ideal, as both are getting renovated and are already booming with activity. Establishing a strong connection with the locals by being in a prime location could give an early boost to the business.

As for social media, it would be easy enough to run twitter, instagram, and even facebook. It is unlikely that posts would go viral, but it would be reassuring to have the products and business to be found easily. I would like to have posts of newly made bouquets, new flowers to the shop, timelapses of the garden, and even photos of events that my flowers have provided for. I think horticulturists, potential customers, and flower enthusiasts of any kind would appreciate it. Plus, it would make for an aesthetically pleasing page.
